White Lake Citizens League

About Us

The White Lake Citizens League (WLCL) is a nonprofit, volunteer organization, representing over 600 property owners on or near White Lake in Oakland County, Michigan. The Citizens League was started February, 1961 by Arleigh Hess, with the articles of incorporation filed in November, 1962.

We are neighbors working with neighbors, volunteering to enhance the beauty and quality of life on our lake.

All WLCL activities are funded by voluntary memberships of $35.00 per year, and other donations. WLCL Membership is open to any owner of lakefront property, and others in the White Lake area.

"The purpose of the White Lake Citizens League is to provide property owners located in the area an organization to manage lake-related matters of interest to all. These include but are not limited to liaison with governmental entities, management of WLCL projects and programs, and facilitation of communications with members. All WLCL activities are oriented toward maintaining or improving the quality and beauty of our lake, and/or to make lake living more enjoyable for our members. Water quality, beautification, social activities and safety are among the interests of the WLCL." [Bylaws Article III]

We work with the White Lake Improvement Board to improve the safety and water quality of White Lake through managed weed control, dredging, testing, and marine patrols.

We sponsor social events during the year, and provide activities and a professional fireworks display during the Independence Day holiday and annual Winter Carnival.

The WLCL is governed by Bylaws, adopted by the general membership. Up to 15 members are elected to the Board of Directors at the annual general membership meeting. The Board of Directors then elects Officers, who serve for two year terms.

Meetings are on the 4th Wednesday of each month from March through September. Meetings are generally held at 7:00 PM at the White Lake Community Hall, 7500 Highland Road, White Lake and are open to everyone.
